Blackbird’s Middle School-Focused Code Education Platform Teaches Real-world Coding Skills, Aligns to Educational Standards
PORTLAND, June 22, 2021 – Blackbird, a company bridging the gap in middle-school code education curriculum, today announced they have joined the Google Cloud Partner Advantage Program. With its entrance into the Partner Advantage Program, Blackbird now integrates with Google products like Google Sign In, Google Classroom, Chromebooks, and is listed in the Google Cloud Partner Directory.
Blackbird was also accepted into the Google for Education Integrated Solutions initiative and as a result, will be featured in the Chromebook App Hub. Through this partnership, Blackbird strives to reach more teachers and students looking to get into coding, advancing its mission of making computer programming and coding education more accessible.
“Blackbird enables middle school students to learn real-world, applicable coding skills in a platform that can be administered by both technical and non-technical teachers,” said Ness Blackbird, cofounder of Blackbird. “We are honored to be part of the Google for Education Integrated Solutions Initiative and look forward to instructors and students learning to code through our unique educational version of JavaScript, while utilizing the facilities and features of Google Classroom.”
Now in use in schools and coding academies throughout the United States, Blackbird was built to address the middle school gap in coding education – in a fun and engaging platform that can be administered by non-technical and technically trained teachers, instructors, and parents. Blackbird’s curriculum guides students through coding lessons aligned with standards identified in the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards for Math and English – as well as the Computer Science Teachers Association Computer Science standards. Blackbird’s integrated LMS enables instructors to easily track student progress, review code and make direct comments.
